Wind is a mantle bitch. She is out of Xanth's First Choice and Xanth's Ms. Dane. She is 33in. at the shoulder and 125lbs. Microchip #42531B622B Avid. DNA profile # V155280. She is an outcross and not a breeding of Ra-Ca Danes. Wind was lost December 27th due to complications from bloat. I was so proud of myself when I caught it at home and had all the right equiptment to decompress her. She came through like a champ. The next day we gave her water in the PM and she bloated again. We took her to the Vets who gave us the grim news that she had also torsed, after speaking with the team and reviewing tacking surgery it was understood that she would continue to bloat even after the surgery. That was not a life for my Wind, day in and day out decompressing. Wind was with us almost 8 years and each day was a blessing. She was our "Ol battle ax" and kept everyone in line here, she taught the gang what respect was. She looked at you and made "Chinese" eyes, and would lay on the blanket and dance with her front paws. She loved nothing better than to lick you like a grooming cat till you were clean. We were blesses with 4 babies from an unplanned breeding with Rhino. Wind had not gotten pregnant for over 4 years (not through lack of trying) after our last attempt at age 7 we said she's done. She surprised us by allowing Rhino to breed to her at day 25-26. I thought she was done with her heat but after Rhino came home from a weekend of showing he proved us wrong! I didn't think anything of it as she had not concieved for years. Weeks pass and she looks fuller, making milk...I thought "Oh great, a false pregnancy". The week before she was due, I felt the puppies move and was in shock! The ultrasound showed 4 babies. She had all 4 at home. She was such a good mom and seemed to be SO happy doing that after so many years. It was bitter-sweet to be saying hello to her new babies and saying goodbye to her. Her side of my line was gone with Typhoon and Leda passing, (they were 2 of her offspring we had kept from her 2 previous litters), but now I have new babies to carry it on. We will miss Wind terribly and she now resides forever at RA-CA Ranch.
