RA-CA Danes was established back in 1990. My goal was to start and maintain my own line of Great Danes. I began with a quality foundation bitch and line bred from there. 7 generations later I can truly state I have "My own line" of Danes. Many breeders breed to the flavor of the month or the most winning Champion of the year. I could care less about those attributes. My goal was to produce dogs that were first and foremost healthy, then temperamentally sound, last was structure. I have achieved all three with a limited gene pool to chose from. A Dane can gain its Championship by being structurually sound and allowing a judge to "go over" it, externally it presents a pretty picture, but what they can't see is the internal makings of the dog, the most important part. Will it live past its 5th year? Is it one of those dogs you know would just as soon bite you as look at you? The majority of my Danes go to people with children, so temperament is of utmost importance. I am averaging 8 1/2 for lifespan, which is a lot better than the National average of 6. The difference between me and many other breeders is I DO have my own line, therefore I am not out to produce inferior dogs as the select few I keep are the ones that are going to carry on my line of RA-CA danes. I have noone to blame or point a finger at when there is a problem or issue as everything behind those dogs,...is mine! Therefore I am very picky with what is bred. I have visions of Danes that do not even exist from breedings that have not even happened yet. I am an architect that has a beautiful castle to build, I have not yet decided where it will be or when it will be completed but I do know once done, it will be a masterpiece. I hope you take as much pride in owning a RA-CA Dane as I have had in creating it.
